The forceps injury that caused his signature "droopy" face was responsible to the birth of Stallone. A nerve was severed in the accident, which resulted in a an erratic speech. Stallone was an anxious child. Stallone and Frank, his younger brother were both adversely affected during their childhood due to the tense parent-child relationships, which ended up in divorce. Stallone lived his entire childhood being in foster homes. Stallone at the age of only five years old, took his family with him to Washington, D.C., where his father started his own chain of beauty salons. Stallone lived in Maryland for a long time, living with his father after his divorce in 1957. Stallone had trouble both academically and emotionally and had to abandon some schools.
